GIRIA is a material research-based project that aims to convey the sensations of the forest through material, to establish a connection between the user, object and nature.

Tree bark waste collected from local sawmills is used to create new organic material and valuable products. The collection consists of tableware, vases, lamps and sculptural objects.

The process of making GIRIA resembles of culinary process while its tactile texture, smell and earthy colours reminds of the forest. During the making, material is let to dry freely and follow the natural transformation to complete the creative process in the form of various deformations.
